Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction - Mindfulness has been well researched to demonstrate the significant effects of reducing stress, increasing self-awareness,
improving attention, boosting the immune system and aiding in overall health and healing. These things
are particularly important when facing medical treatments that can generate fear, anxiety and uncertainty in both
the patient and those caring for their loved one.

Scripps Health, through the Scripps Translational Science Institute, is
launching a first-of-its-kind clinical research trial for cancer patients that will analyze and compare the genomics
of tumor tissue with the individual’s core (native, germ-line) DNA. The hope is the data will lead to
individualized therapies for cancer patients.
The study will be conducted at Scripps Health locations throughout San Diego County, as well as the

The San Diego Cancer Center had its first art show reception on Sunday June 28th at its Encinitas Facility, organized and facilitated by Dr. Yanina Adler, Ph.D.
The art show will run through the end of July. We are lucky to host two super-talented multifaceted art photographers - an engineer Peter Fay and an ophthalmologist Dr. Blake Shaw. The images on display at the SDCC are stunning. Peter is presenting images from his "Nature Gallery" and Blake the "Floral Dreams". We had overwhelming positive response from the visitors to SDCC commenting of the grandeur, subtlety and undisputable beauty of these works. It adds a lot to the patient's care. People are walking by the walls of the center which now looks like a high end art gallery. To take such walks and be transported through these visual expeditions into the realm of nature's most beautiful manifestations means healing moments for everyone. For the chemotherapy recipients it reinstates life. We are very fortunate and pleased to be able to give this type of enhancement to our visitors, patients, their family, friends, and all medical personnel that care for our clients. Our second goal is to provide a venue for the many local talented artists in exhibit their work, most of which can be purchased with full proceeds going to the artists. These rotating shows are the part of larger efforts by the San Diego Cancer Research Institute, non-profit organization which is dedicated in delivering the best in the art of healing.
